Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Achieving inclusive and equitable quality education for all will require increasing efforts, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia and for vulnerable populations, including persons with disabilities, indigenous people, refugee children and poor children in rural areas. Despite considerable gains in education enrolment over the past 15 years, many children do not acquire basic reading and mathematical skills at the end of their primary education. Equity issues within countries are also a major challenge. This goal ensures that all girls and boys complete free primary and secondary schooling by 2030. It also aims to provide equal access to affordable vocational training, to eliminate gender and wealth disparities, and achieve universal access to a quality higher education.

Interaction with SDG 3

Supporting high-quality education for all will help improve health and health equity goals.
