Policy and Global Development – What we do

Translation and Societal Impact – What we do

The Translation and Societal Impact Area is the core of ISGlobal’s strategic application of knowledge. Based on scientific evidence and the analysis of the best available ideas in health and development, we promote new models of action and changes in the global agenda that result in more effective, equitable and sustainable interventions to ultimately achieve impact on the population.

Policy Analysis

The Policy Analysis Area monitors the global health agenda, framed within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to generate proposals and recommendations for public and private stakeholders. We carry out analysis and outreach activities on a variety of issues: preparedness and response to systemic health risks, the challenges of climate change for human wellbeing, child mortality, migration, and global health governance, among others.

Development

The Development Area aims to expand ISGlobal’s activities beyond science to deliver real benefits to the population through new models of action and development projects. With long-standing strategic partnerships in Latin America, Africa, Europe and the United States, we develop alliances and collaborations worldwide to transform reality based on scientific evidence.

Advocacy

The Advocacy Area is responsible for conveying our proposals to those with the capacity and responsibility to make change happen. These stakeholders include political and institutional representatives in Spain, the European Union and at international level, as well as leaders from the business sector and civil society. Based on the best analysis and our on-the-ground experience, our advocacy not only demands accountability and the fulfilment of international commitments, but also offers practical and actionable solutions.

Communication

The Communication Area is in charge of disseminating the knowledge and activities generated by ISGlobal to external audiences.

Impact

At ISGlobal, we understand impact as the demonstrable benefits that our research brings to society, the economy and the environment. The Impact Area works to foster an institutional environment that enhances the transformative power of the knowledge we generate. It also supports researchers in designing robust strategies to maximise the social value of their ongoing and future projects, and in identifying, demonstrating and communicating the real-world changes to which their research contributes.
