Collaboration Between MESA and MalariaWorld

The new "brought to you by MESA" series will report on progress and opportunities in the field of malaria elimination

29.10.2013

MalariaWorld, the world's largest scientific and social malaria network for malaria professionals, and the Malaria Eradication Scientific Alliance (MESA) have just announced a new partnership that will keep members of the MalariaWorld community up to date on the ever growing evidence base in malaria elimination, from science, to lessons learned, and policy.  Their first post shares the eBriefing meeting report from Advances in Plasmodium vivax Malaria Research, presented by The New York Academy of Sciences, ISGlobal and the "la Caixa" Foundation".

MESA is financed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and is one of the main projects in ISGlobal's Malaria Elimination Initiative. It was established to provide a meeting point for the international malaria R&D community, promote strategic projects to accelerate elimination and monitor global activities in the field.

Other disease eradication efforts, both past and present, have shown us that R&D has a crucial role to play in successful elimination and eradication programmes. MESA builds upon the foundation laid by the Malaria Eradication Research Agenda (MalERA) consultative process that ran between 2008 and 2011.
