Magda Bosch de Basea has a background in Environmental Sciences, and completed her M.Sc in 2009 in Epidemiology and Public Health (specialized training on Research on Public Health) followed by a Ph.D. in Biomedicine at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) in 2016. Her current research focuses on clinically validating a new comprehensive system to monitor and evaluate people’s gait based on digital technologies, together with the MOBILISE-D team. The project focuses on conditions which often affect mobility, namely chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, hip fracture recovery, and congestive heart failure.

She is also involved in the COVICAT study based on existing population cohorts, exploring the association of chronic diseases to SARS-COV-2 infection risk.

She is taking part as well in the INMA study, assessing the association of gestational exposure to synthetic chemicals (such as phthalate compounds) and lung function during childhood in the INMA mother-child pair cohort. Her research interests center on environmental exposures and their interface with early life, long term and acute health effects.
