The Catalan Association of Research Entities Visits ISGlobal

The meeting assessed the current research situation in Catalonia

13.01.2017

On January 12, ISGlobal’s general direction met with Josep Samitier, president of the Catalan Association of Research Entities (ACER) and its executive secretary, Andreu Botella, to take stock of the current research situation in Catalonia, as well as the organisational challenges shared by the country’s research centres. “The meeting has highlighted the good understanding between both institutions and the opportunities of mutual support. For ISGlobal it is of great value to be a member of ACER and contribute to find common answers to improve the quality of our work” said Antoni Plasència, ISGlobal's general director at the end of the meeting.

ISGlobal is an ACER member since 2014, when the Research Centre in International Health (CRESIB), forerunner of ISGlobal, was definitely integrated into the Institute. In turn, the Research Centre in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL), that merged with ISGlobal on June 30, 2016, was also part of the Association since 2010.

The Catalan Association of Research Centres (Associació Catalana d'Entitats de Recerca - ACER) is an independent association of institutions with legal personality located in Catalonia which count research as their principal mission. The collective vocation of the associated organisations is to contribute to defining the scientific and research priorities and policies in Catalonia, and to optimise their management and implementation in their respective areas. ACER's ultimate goal is to contribute to establishing the region as an international benchmark in scientific and technological research.
