ISGlobal Receives the HR Excellence in Research Award

The European Commission award recognises the institute's efforts to improve the rights of researchers

16.07.2015

ISGlobal has obtained the accreditation of excellence in human resource policy in the form of the official European Commission HR Excellence in Research Award. This badge, awarded by the European Commission within the framework of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), recognises the institute's efforts to create a stimulating and supportive working environment and its commitment to continuing improvement of human resources policies.

In 2013, in a first step towards aligning its corporate policies with international standards, ISGlobal adopted the European Commission's European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. A working group was set up at the end of 2014 to conduct a baseline analysis of internal policies and practices.  As part of this process, a survey was designed and administered to identify the procedures and practices that needed improvement.

The working group drew up the Human Resources Action Plan 2015-2018, which defined 25 actions for improvement to be implemented over the three-year period covered by the plan. All the actions proposed in the plan reinforce the overall objective of corporate human resources strategy, which is to provide a high quality environment for all employees.

"This recognition is an important step towards providing our researchers with a transparent and favourable environment, and it enhances the attractiveness of our centre for top level researchers", explains ISGlobal's Manager Gonzalo Vicente. "We have become one of the eleven centres belonging to the Generalitat de Catalunya's CERCA network that have received this badge, and one of the 25 recognised centres in Spain. "

As part of the HRS4R implementation process, and in accordance with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, ISGlobal is committed to completing a self-assessment every two years as well as an external evaluation every four years in collaboration with the European Commission.
