The Call for the 2017 TransGlobal Health Erasmus Mundus Joint PhD Programme is Now Open

The call for 2017 has 10 PhD projects in three main themes of Global Health

18.10.2016

The call for the fifth edition of the TransGlobal Health program, starting in September 2017, is now open. The new round of fellowships has 10 PhD projects in three main themes of Global Health: Addressing Ethical Challenges in Global Health Research (2 projects), Systemic Approaches Towards Sustainable Development Goals (5 projects), and Urbanisation, Migration, and Environmental Impacts on Health in a Globalised World (3 projects). Two projects are directed by ISGlobal: Pregnant Women as Sentinel Group for Malaria Surveillance in Elimination Contexts and Health Impact Assessment for Healthy Living

The aim of the three-year training program is that the PhD candidates build expertise in specific areas of global health and work with professionals of different backgrounds to assess situations from numerous angles- from scientific and technical disciplines to social ones, passing through issues on health systems, while incorporating elements of valuation and translation of research conducted including end users thereof.

To apply, the candidates must choose and develop one (or more) of the 10 projects proposed by the 6 full members of the consortium: the VU University Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Medical Centre and the University of Amsterdam (Holland), the University of Bordeaux Segalen (France), the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Antwerp (Belgium), and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal)-University of Barcelona (Spain). The deadline for applying is January 8, 2017.

The program is open to students from around the world who meet the academic requirements for doctoral studies and demonstrate an excellent academic record. It is part of the Erasmus Mundus PhD Programme, a European cooperation and mobility project in the field of higher education that seeks to promote the European Union as a training centre of excellence and encourage cooperation with third countries.
