Over the years, some bacteria have developed the ability to escape the action of antibiotics, which are the only drugs available to deal with bacterial infections. Their global presence makes them a growing issue for public health and, in 2017, the WHO announced which were the most resistant bacterial species and, therefore, a priority on research and development of new treatments.

In this infographic, we present the twelve most resistant bacteria, the symptoms they cause, the treatment to deal with them and the antibiotic resistance they have developed.
