Marta Cosín

Postdoctoral Researcher Childhood & Environment

Marta Cosin Tomas joined ISGlobal in 2020 as a postdoctoral researcher (Juan de la Cierva – formación fellowship).

Her background is in Biochemistry (BSc.) and Public Health (MSc.). She did her PhD at the University of Barcelona on the contribution of epigenetic mechanisms to ageing and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and the effects of lifestyle interventions (physical exercise, dietary, stress reduction/meditation) on transcriptional and epigenetic modifications using animal models and human samples.

She conducted her first postdoc in Dr Rozen’s lab at McGill University (Canada), where she studied the effects of high folic acid consumption during pregnancy on placenta and offspring neurodevelopment, with special attention to the associated epigenetic and transcriptional changes.

Currently, she investigates the role of epigenetic mechanisms in the impact of environmental factors on offspring health, particularly on neurodevelopment during pregnancy and early childhood (BiSC project, PACE consortium).
