Laura Delgado did her PhD at ISGlobal (2019-2024) under the supervision of Prof. Judith Garcia-Aymerich within the Environment and Health over the Lifecourse Programme. Her doctoral research focused on the characterisation of walking in older adults, with a specific focus on individuals living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This work formed part of Mobilise-D, a collaborative project funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI).

Prior to her PhD, Laura studied Government and International Relations at the Universidad Externado de Colombia (Colombia). She went to obtain two master’s degrees from the Universitat de Barcelona (Spain): one in Global Health, and another in Clinical Research-International Health.

Alongside her academic background, Laura has experience in the private pharmaceutical sector, where she was involved in dissemination activities, patient engagement, and access-related projects.

She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Basel and a visiting researcher at ISGlobal. Her current work focuses on physical activity in ageing populations, particularly in the context of climate change.
