Mònica López

Postdoctoral Researcher Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health, Childhood & Environment, Air Pollution

Mònica López Vicente holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and a Master's degree in Neuroscience (Universitat de Barcelona). She got her PhD at ISGlobal (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), where she acquired experience in environmental epidemiology. During this period, she studied the role of different factors, such as physical activity, nutrition and environmental exposures, on neurodevelopment using data from international population-based cohorts. She was involved in the coordination of the mental health data harminization of the LifeCycle project.

She got a LEaDing Fellows grant fromt the Marie Sklodowska-Curie COFUND Programme to work on a project about the longitudinal development of brain connectivity using cutting-edge neuroimaging techniques at Erasmus Medical Center (Rotterdam, Netherlands). During this postdoctoral stage, she got experience in different brain imaging techniques, including structural, diffusion tensor imaging and functional magnetic resonance imaging. In collaboration with researchers from McGill University (Montreal, Canada), she studied the interaction between the genes and the prenatal psychosocial environment on brain development within the framework of the DREAM BIG consortium.

Mònica López is currently studying the impact of several environmental exposures on brain development using brain imaging techniques with a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación grant.
