Our Team


Rocío Rubio graduated in Microbiology by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2019. In her last year of her bachelor’s degree, she did two internships with the Erasmus+ program. In the first stay, she investigated the role of two unknown proteins of Plasmodium berghei parasite at the Malaria Infection & Immunity Group of the Institut Pasteur in Paris (France); and in the second stay, she worked on the description of the intestinal epithelium during neonatal Giardia lamblia infection at the Institute of Medical Microbiology of the RWTH Aachen University in Aachen (Germany).

She obtained her master’s degree in Advanced Immunology from the Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2020. For her master’s thesis, she joined the Malaria Immunology group of ISGlobal leaded by Carlota Dobaño and Gemma Moncunill to study the immune deviation in the context of Plasmodium falciparum and helminth coinfection.

Afterward, she started as a laboratory technician to work on COVID-19 projects in Dobaño & Moncunill team, and currently, she is a PhD fellow with a project of immunity to COVID-19 in the same research group.
