Dr. Judith Garcia-Aymerich, co-chair of the ERS Congress

Judith Garcia-Aymerich, CREAL researcher, is co-president of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress, which will be held in Barcelona from 7th to 11th September and it is the largest in the world in this area. There will be educational activities such as "Quit Smoking with Barca" in Pl. Universitat, on 6th and 7th September.

Judith Garcia-Aymerich, CREAL researcher and associate professor in the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences (CEXS-UPF), is co-chair of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), which will take place next 7th and 11th September in Barcelona. This responsibility is shared with Dr. Joaquim Gea, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at UPF and Professor of Physiology in CEXS at the UPF.

This event will bring to the city the leading European researchers in respiratory area. It is expected to have a good representation of the members of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR) and the American Association of Thorax (ALAT).

The previous year, the month of September in Vienna, ended with a total of 18,240 registered 388 scientific sessions and 30 evening symposia, keeping it as the largest respiratory congress in the world.

Previous activities: Quit Smoking with Barça

Several members of CREAL will participate as volunteers in a promotional event jointly with the ERS and FC Barcelona. Quit Smoking with Barça takes part of the previous activities to the annual congress of the European Respiratory Society. It will take place on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th August from 10am to 20pm, in Plaça Universitat.
