A study on colorectal cancer honored as the best international scientific literature in Spanish

In XXIV Edition of Mayo awards it has been recognized as the best scientific paper published in Spanish literature, a large international collaborative study, published in Gastroenterology, which seeks the meaning of small genetic variations in colorectal cancer.

In the study, with multicenter character, involved both researchers at the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology and the Hospital del Mar and Hospital Clínic. The project has received a sample of nearly 2,000 patients from all over Spain.

The results could help to provide a new vision in the detection of familial colon cancer, allowing detection of individuals in risk and increasing precision in the stratification of population risk and screening policies.
