SAFE (Superbug Awareness For Education) - 1st Edition

Antimicrobial Resistances

Duration
January-December 2020
Coordinator
Clara Ballesté Delpierre (ISGlobal)
Funded by
EIT Health Campus

The aim of SAFE is to perform a service learning activity in the field of microbiology, particularly on antimicrobial resistance, for the training of Graduate/Master/PhD students who in turn will conduct the training of highschool students supervised by university professors/researchers experts on this area. Trainings will include the isolation of strains and search for antibacterial activity from natural sources (e.g. soil).

Students will also participate in activities organized during Science Festivals and World Antibiotic Awareness Week for the diffusion of the AMR issue towards citizens as well as gamification through Micro-Combat (designed by ISGlobal).

Additionally, one of these activities will be a competition among high school students participating in SAFE. The winners will have the opportunity to do a short internship at Roche Diagnostics enriching their vision through the incorporation of an entrepreneurial perspective in the field of antimicrobial resistance.
