The Catalan Government Awards the ‘Josep Trueta' Medal to Dr. Antoni Trilla

Dr. Antoni Trilla, researcher at ISGlobal, has been awarded the Josep Trueta medal for his important contribution to the public health field

The Catalan Government has awarded the Josep Trueta medal for health merit to Dr. Antoni Trilla García, researcher at ISGlobal, for his outstanding work in the field of preventive medicine and public health. Dr. Trilla currently directs the Preventive Medicine Unit at the Hospital Clinic. An expert in epidemiology, he is a member of different advisory boards, president of the ‘Agencia de Calidad y Evaluación Sanitarias' of Catalunya and consultant for the European Centre of Disease Control.

The award ceremony will take place soon in the Palau de la Generalitat, Barcelona, where a total of 13 people and three institutions will receive Josep Trueta medals or plaques. Other awardees include Dr. Manel Esteller Badosa, director of the Epigenetics and Cancer Biology Program of the ‘Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Bellvitge', Dr. Andreu Segura, from the ‘Institut d'Estudis de la Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya', Assumpció González Mestre, director of the ‘Pacient Expert Catalunya' program, and Dr. Josep Fábregas i Poveda, awarded posthumously for his work in mental health.   

The Josep Trueta medal and plaque were created by the Catalan Government in 1997, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the catalan doctor and scientist, with the aim of honouring those persons and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the progress and improvement of public health.
