Julia Placido Moore is an environmental engineer graduated from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, where she also obtained her Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering while working at the Air Quality Control Laboratory (LCQAr). She has also been part of the Fundação Getulio Vargas through the Center for Studies in Environment and Public Health (CEMASP) and previously worked as a technical consultant for the Surveillance of Populations Exposed to Air Pollutants (VIGIAR) at the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

Since graduation, she has been interested in air quality research. This early interest shaped her career path in Environmental Epidemiology, focusing on the association between air pollution exposure and health impacts.

She is currently a Research technician in Cathryn Tonne’s team, where she studies the dynamics of wildfire exposure and human health in Europe. She is part of the CATALYSE Project and the European Regional Centre of the Lancet Countdown for Climate and Health.
