Paula Fernández

Investigadora predoctoral Malària i malalties parasitàries desateses

Paula Fernández Torres graduated in Medicine from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in 2020. During her medical degree, she completed clinical stages in Manaus (Brazil), focused on tropical diseases, and in Montreal (Canada), focused on infectious diseases. She later obtained an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), specialising in infectious diseases and global health, and completed her residency in Public Health and Epidemiology at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, during which she also collaborated with the Manhiça Health Research Centre (CISM) on tuberculosis vaccine trials and epidemiological studies.

She is currently a Predoctoral Fellow in Dr Caterina Guinovart’s group at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), funded through a competitive AGAUR FI-STEP grant. Her work focuses on malaria epidemiology and impact evaluation, with a particular interest in advancing malaria control and prevention efforts.
