Anna Brugulat Panés

Anna Brugulat Panés

Investigadora postdoctoral

Anna is a Severo Ochoa Postdoctoral Fellow at ISGlobal, working across the Migrant Health group and the Science with Society Hub.

Her research in the Migrant Health group focuses on understanding how high temperatures affect the health of migrant agricultural workers in Spain, and on co-creating solutions with migrants, policymakers, employers, and health professionals. This work has a strong participatory dimension, aiming to generate equitable, just, and sustainable responses that address the climate and occupational health challenges of this population.

Within the Science with Society Hub, Anna’s work explores how institutions can strengthen the number and quality of participatory research initiatives in their agendas. Using community-based participatory approaches, she contributes to developing a theory of change that identifies facilitators, barriers, and mechanisms for embedding participatory science in research organisations.

Anna holds a PhD in Population and Global Health from the University of Cambridge, where her research examined food acquisition and food-sharing practices in Small Island Developing States. It combined mixed-methods and participatory approaches to find ways towards more sustainable, healthy, and equitable food systems.

Anna has worked at the World Health Organization on non-communicable disease prevention and control, and has collaborated with civil society and policy advocacy organisations, including the Healthy Caribbean Coalition and The Food Foundation, among others.
