Global Mental Health and Psychosocial Service Development

A stimulating forum for debates around mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) as a global problem in need of local solutions

This is an introductory course on Global Mental Health, which aims to become a stimulating forum for debates around mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) as a global problem in need of local solutions.

It combines theoretical sessions with practical exercises based on real scenarios.

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

• Contrast and analyse the most adequate approaches for the development, implementation and evaluation of mental health and psychosocial support programmes.
• Appraise the multilayered, interdisciplinary and intersectoral components in the organization of the optimum mental health and psychosocial support services.
• Adopt an integrated vision of mental health and psychosocial support as a transversal component in the field of global health.

Assessments

Students will be evaluated based on:

• Group/individual presentation
• Written report
• Examination

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• A demonstrated interest in global health and/or mental health.
• An advanced level of English.
