The RESILIENT project aims to advance respiratory research by shifting from a single-disease focus to a multimorbidity approach, considering respiratory conditions together rather than in isolation.

Unlike most existing cohorts, which are limited to childhood follow-up, RESILIENT adopts a life-course perspective, examining respiratory disease trajectories from early development through adulthood.

Environmental exposures and respiratory multimorbidities

There is currently limited evidence on how air pollution, green spaces, and broader environmental exposures influence the development and progression of multimorbid respiratory diseases over time.

RESILIENT addresses this gap by applying an environmental exposome approach, capturing a wide range of exposures during both prenatal and postnatal periods.

The project is among the first to link the early-life exposome with long-term respiratory multimorbidity trajectories.
