The international global health system is undergoing a profound reconfiguration. Decisions on financing, governance, and health equity in the coming months will shape the sector’s trajectory. In this context, it is essential that the emerging model places health equity at its core, strengthens preparedness for global health threats, and is grounded in evidence-based, results-oriented approaches.

Against this backdrop, the Advocacy team at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) launches The Future of Global Health, a bi-monthly newsletter offering analysis and tracking of political processes, a mapping of the global health ecosystem, and a calendar of key events.

The first edition includes two analyses. The first outlines key elements for understanding global health within the current geopolitical debate: the crisis of multilateralism, great power rivalry, health sovereignty in the Global South, and Spain’s emerging leadership. The second examines the challenges and scenarios facing WHO amid the reconfiguration of the global order.

In addition, the newsletter features recommended publications and a curated selection of analyses produced by other organizations. Upcoming editions will cover topics such as gender equality, debt swaps, and other central issues in global health.
