“Las Voces de los Afectados por la Nefropatía Mesoamericana” pretende indagar sobre el contexto social, económico y ambiental en el que tiene lugar esta epidemia, dando voz a las personas más afectadas por la enfermedad, describiendo sus itinerarios vitales y su vivencia cotidiana de la enfermedad, incluyendo el acceso a cuidados de salud, y otros recursos sociales y de apoyo.

Usando la metodología cualitativa de participación-acción “Fotovoz” en dos municipios de Nicaragua (Chichigalpa y La Paz Centro), el proyecto pretende involucrar a la comunidad afectada por la ERCnt como un actor esencial a tener en cuenta en los proyectos de investigación incluyendo sus percepciones, vivencias y necesidades e informar posibles estrategias e intervenciones de desarrollo sostenible y de cuidados de salud para aquellos más afectados por la ERCnt en Nicaragua y otras partes del mundo.

Los materiales audiovisuales generados por el proyecto pueden ayudar a elevar el perfil de esta emergencia de salud pública.
