Article 25 of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 states that "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services." This is one of the international agreements that has been enumerated this concept, although there are some variation in the interpretation and application of the right to health.

Focusing on this issue, Lawrence O. Gostin (@LGostin) is giving an open talk on 24th January. He directs the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law and was the Founding O'Neill Chair in Global Health Law at Georgetown Univeristy. He is also the Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Public Health Law & Human Rights, Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University and Professor of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University. 'Global Health Law', 'Public Health Law and Ethics' and 'Human Rights and Public Health in the AIDS Pandemic' are some titles of his bibliography.
