New Group of Doctors Completes Course on Imported Diseases

Imported diseases have become a major public health problem worldwide

25.11.2013

The rising incidence of imported diseases worldwide has generated increasing concern in the health community. To further knowledge on the main diseases that are imported into Spain through travellers or immigrants, ISGlobal, together with its research centre, CRESIB (Barcelona Centre for International Health Research) and Hospital Clínic, organised the third edition of its annual course on imported diseases. The course, entitled Imported diseases: An Intensive Course for Physicians in Clinical Practice, was held at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona on 21-22 November.

Nineteen health professionals took part in the 2-day intensive course, which was partly sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline España and Omega Pharma España.

The course, which was largely practical, was designed to provide physicians with the tools to diagnose and treat the main imported diseases in Spain. It combined a more theoretical introduction with the analysis and discussion of specific cases based on hands-on experience.
