Pedro Alonso Appears Before the Health Committee of the Catalan Parliament

Pedro Alonso, Director of the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), appeared before the Catalan parliament to provide an update on the situation of malaria in the world and the current stage of development of the malaria vaccine

Last Thursday, June 21, Dr Pedro Alonso, Director of the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and its research centre CRESIB, appeared before the Health Committee of the Catalan Parliament to talk about malaria and the scientific advances in the development of the RTS, S malaria vaccine, in which researchers from CRESIB have played a key role.

In the introduction to his presentation, Dr Alonso referred to malaria as "one of the main global health challenges of the 21st century" and stated that the progress that has been made in the past decade is thanks to the impetus given to research into the disease and the tools to fight it.

Dr Alonso was accompanied by AntoniPlasència, Technical Director of CRESIB, and Dr. NúriaCasamitjana, Training & Education Director at ISGlobal.
