The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) has renewed the leadership of its External Advisory Committee (EAC). Annette Peters will be the new chair of the EAC, replacing David Savitz and Marcel Tanner. She will be joined by Chetan Chitnis as Vice Chair. These changes are part of the regular renewal process of the EAC, which applies to all its members. Both Peters and Chitnis were appointed by the ISGlobal Executive Committee at its July meeting, following the recommendation of the Institute's management.

Professor Annette Peters, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology at Helmholtz Zentrum München and Professor of Epidemiology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, has been a member of the External Advisory Committee since 2017. Her appointment as Chair is a recognition of her outstanding track record in the field of epidemiology and her commitment to ISGlobal's mission. Meanwhile, Professor  Chetan Chitnis, Head of the Malaria Parasite Biology and Vaccines Unit at the Institut Pasteur in France, has also been a member of the EAC since 2017 and as Vice Chair will support Peters in her role on the committee.

Renewed leadership for a continued commitment

"We are very grateful to Professors Peters and Chitnis for accepting this new role at ISGlobal. We are confident that their collaboration will enrich the work of the Committee and strengthen its ability to provide strategic guidance to ISGlobal," said Antoni Plasència, Director General of ISGlobal.

ISGlobal would like to thank David Savitz and Marcel Tanner for their commitment to our Institute over the years. Both have been a source of inspiration for ISGlobal researchers and the ISGlobal community. Their advice and dedication have been instrumental in the development of our institution, especially during the alliance and merger process.

The renewal of the EAC Chairmanship underlines ISGlobal's continued commitment to excellence in global health and the search for innovative solutions to global health challenges.
