12.02.2013

International collaborations with leading global health organisations make a valuable contribution to the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). In order to strengthen and give more external visibility to these collaborations, ISGlobal has launched a visiting scholars programme, designed to integrate renowned researchers and other professionals in the activities of ISGlobal in recognition of their work in the field of global health.

ISGlobal Visiting Scholars can contribute to ISGlobal in many ways, for instance, by lending their expertise to a specific research area at ISGlobal, participating in training activities or Think Tank projects, or working with other departments at the institute.

Three ISGlobal collaborators have been appointed Visiting Scholars for 2013-2014:

Dr. Emili Letang, Head of the Chronic Diseases Clinic of Ifakara in Tanzania and researcher in HIV/AIDS and opportunistic infections

Dr. Eusébio Macete, Director of the Manhiça Health Research Centre (CISM) in Mozambique and researcher in malaria and other infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa

Dr. Faustino Torrico, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Universidad Mayor de San Simón in Cochabamba, Bolivia and leading researcher in Chagas disease and other infectious diseases that affect the Bolivian population
