Dr. Judith Garcia Aymerich will co-chair the ERS Congress in 2013

CREAL researcher (Research Center for Environmental Epidemiology) and associated professor at the Department of Experimental Sciences and Health (CEXS-Universitat Pompeu Fabra), Judith Garcia-Aymerich, will co-chair the next Congress of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) that will be held from 7 to 11 September 2013 in Barcelona. This responsibility will be shared with Dr. Joaquim Gea, dean of the Faculty of Health and Life of the UPF and Professor of Physiology at CEXS-UPF.

According to Dr. Garcia-Aymerich, "is an honor and a pleasure to represent the research done in Barcelona in respiratory diseases in this international event and also represents an opportunity to better understand the functioning of the major international scientific societies. I hope to influence the congress, mainly focused to a hearing clinic, have greater methodological content and public health."

Both presidents have added that will try to "have a good attendance of members of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR) and the Latin American Thoracic Association (ALAT). Furthermore, they will intend to" organize complementary activities in Spanish".

On 5th September ended the last edition of this conference, which this time was held in Vienna, with a total of 18,240 registered, 388 scientific sessions, and 30 evening symposiums, keeping it as the largest respiratory meeting worldwide.
