The registration deadline for the Humanitarian Crises and Global Health course has been extended until the 3rd of April. The course, run by ISGlobal and the NGO Médicos Sin Fronteras, is part of the ISGlobal – UB Master of Global Health but open to everyone. It will be held at the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Medicine from the 9th to the 20th of April with classes taking place from 9:00am to 13:30am.

Whether it is in Syria, the Democratic Republic of Congo or South Sudan, the common denominator found in humanitarian crises is that they go hand in hand with huge health needs. A case of measles can start an epidemic in a displaced people's camp. The lack of drinking water or hygiene and sanitation infrastructure can unleash a cholera outbreak. Overcrowding helps the transmission of respiratory infections and diarrhoea at the same time as insecurity and violence increase mental health problems. The needs in refugee and displaced people's camps are never ending.

The "Humanitarian Crises and Global Health" course plan focuses on the health care of refugees and displaced people and the planning and management of camps including hygiene and sanitary facilities. The classes will be in-person and taught by professionals with significant experience in the field of global health and humanitarian crises.
