The 2nd Citizen Science Congress will take place on 17 and 18 November at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB). The event will bring together experts from research centres, companies and public administrations, and will offer a wide range of short talks, round tables and practical workshops on citizen science projects in areas such as biodiversity, the environment, health and technology.

The aim of the congress is to strengthen the citizen science movement, broaden its base and explore new ways to harness its potential in tackling the global and local challenges of our time.

New tools and methodologies will be presented to enhance citizen participation and social impact, reach more communities and territories, and position Catalonia as an international reference in this field.

'Giants of Science' with Francis Mojica

The opening lecture will be delivered by Francis Mojica, a microbiologist internationally recognised for discovering the CRISPR-Cas gene-editing tool. He will give the talk “Giants of Science” at the CosmoCaixa Science Museum on 17 November at 7 p.m.

The congress is organised by Ideas For Change (IFC), Science For Change (SFC) and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), with the support of the Government of Catalonia, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona and the Barcelona City Council. Collaborating partners include the City Council of Sabadell and the CosmoCaixa Science Museum, and the media partner is the Catalan Association for Science Communication (ACCC).
