Among all vector-borne disease, there is a disease called leishmaniasis. It is also a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) and a disease of poverty. It is caused by protozoan parasites from more than 20 Leishmania species that are transmitted to humans by one of our usual suspectes: phlebotomine sandflies.
