Shoko Nakazawa (Takada)


Shoko Nakazawa, MD, PhD,
is a researcher in the Public Health Liver Group at ISGlobal and an assistant professor/researcher at Tokai University School of Medicine, specialising in occupational epidemiology in Japan. Drawing on her background as an emergency physician and occupational health physician, she bridges the gap between healthcare systems, public health policies, and practical implementation.

After serving as a Visiting Researcher from 2020 to 2023, she earned her PhD from Tokai University with research focusing on diabetes complications and occupational health. Her work broadly addresses the relationship between workplace factors and health outcomes. As a research collaborator in the research group led by Dr. Masaaki Korenaga (Principal Investigator)—which focuses on strategies to improve viral hepatitis screening rates and streamline referral to medical care—she developed a deep research interest in liver diseases. Her work in this group emphasises the workplace implementation of hepatitis B and C screening and linkage to care, as well as MASLD/MASH. In addition, she has extended her research into health risks facing transgender individuals, securing a JSPS KAKENHI Grant-in-Aid for 2024–2026.
