Aniol Vilamala

Biostatistics Technician

Aniol Vilamala is a biostatistician with academic background in Applied Statistics and a strong orientation toward methodological rigor in biomedical research. He graduated in 2026 from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he received highest honors for his Bachelor’s thesis on compositional data analysis applied to air pollution mapping in Catalonia. His training includes advanced statistical modeling, deep learning, longitudinal and clinical data analysis, and statistical consulting, reflecting a broad and technically robust formation.

Professionally, Aniol has gained practical experience within ISGlobal’s Biostatistics and Data Management Unit, collaborating with research teams in epidemiology and clinical studies. During his internship, he contributed to projects on diagnostic delay in endometriosis, antimicrobial resistance in water systems, and clinical data management for Chagas disease. His work involved exploratory and multivariate analyses, unsupervised learning methods, and data cleaning and harmonization tasks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of clinical datasets.

In his current role as a Biostatistics Technician, he supports senior biostatisticians and interdisciplinary research teams through data preprocessing, statistical modeling, and machine learning analyses. He also contributes to ongoing research initiatives, including biomarker and epidemiological studies such as CHAMPS or RESPIRE.
