Student

Antoni Soriano Serra is a Biomedical Scientist with a strong background in bioinformatics and transcriptomics. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the International University of Catalonia (UIC Barcelona), where he developed a particular interest in molecular biology and data-driven approaches to disease research. During his Erasmus program at Hogeschool Leiden in the Netherlands, Toni deepened his expertise in genomics and next-generation sequencing (NGS) through minors in Recombinant Biotechnology and Genomics, gaining hands-on experience with sequencing technologies such as Illumina and Oxford Nanopore (MinION).

Professionally, he has worked in both academic and corporate environments. He completed a research internship at Imperial College London, within the Department of Infectious Diseases, where he applied bioinformatics tools such as DESeq2 and PCAtools to study transcriptomic signatures that distinguish MIS-C from related inflammatory diseases. Additionally, Toni gained experience in customer experience and innovation at DSM-Firmenich, developing skills in communication and project coordination.

Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s in Biomedical Business Management at UIC Barcelona, combining his scientific foundation with business and strategic training. His goal is to bridge the gap between biomedical research and industry innovation, contributing to translational science and biotechnology development.
