
SERGI SANZ
Biostatistics & Data Management Unit HeadSergi Sanz is a statistician with over 25 years of experience in biomedical research and nearly 90 scientific publications. He holds a degree in Statistics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a degree in Market Research from the Open University of Catalonia. He also completed a postgraduate program in Advanced Methods of Applied Statistics at UNED and a master’s in Data Management and Knowledge from the Open University of Catalonia.
His career began at the Catalan Institute of Oncology, where he worked in data management and statistical analysis. One of his cancer research projects served as his final degree thesis. He later joined Pedro Alonso's research group at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, contributing to its evolution through institutions such as Fundació Clínic, CRESIB, and ISGlobal.
Sergi Sanz coordinates the Biostatistics and Data Management Unit (UBIOES-GD) at ISGlobal, leading institutional data harmonization efforts. He contributes to multicenter projects on tropical diseases like Malaria and Chagas and other infectious diseases.
He is also an associate professor in the Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona and a Biostatistics coordinator for the Master's Degree in Global Health at the same university.
