Àngel Font i Vidal holds a PhD in Economics (Ramon Llull University, Barcelona) and a degree in Chemical Sciences (University of Barcelona). He also holds a diploma in Business Management from EADA Business School.

He began his professional career in an environmental engineering firm, although he soon joined Intermón Oxfam, where he held several senior positions: first coordinating programmes in Latin America and later as Deputy to the Director General, acting as coordinator of the integration within Oxfam and as head of strategic planning. He subsequently joined Caixa Catalunya to lead the Un Sol Món Foundation, where he promoted programmes in microfinance, employment integration and social housing. He served as Vice-President of the European Microfinance Network, representing Caixa Catalunya.

In 2010, he joined the ”la Caixa” Foundation, where he has held various roles related to organisation, people and strategy. He was also the first person to serve as Manager of ISGlobal (Barcelona Institute for Global Health) during its formative phase.

He is currently Deputy Director General for Research and Fellowships at the “la Caixa” Foundation and Executive Director of the CaixaResearch Institute. He is also President of Philea (Philanthropy Europe Association), representing the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
