Barcelona | Consell de Cent 386

On 12 and 14 November, discover the transformation of Consell de Cent Street and its connection to healthy urban planning, accompanied by experts in urban planning and urban health. We will explore what the street was like before the redevelopment, the reasons behind the changes and the design principles aimed at improving people’s well-being.

During the visit, we will explore how vegetation, air quality, physical activity, road safety and accessibility contribute to creating healthier public spaces. We will also assess the area using a simplified evaluation sheet to examine aspects such as thermal comfort, acoustic quality and the functionality of the space.

The walk will conclude with a participatory discussion, giving participants the opportunity to share their assessments and reflect on the opportunities and limitations of these types of interventions, as well as their potential application in other parts of the city.

Guides: Xavier Matilla, architect and urban planner and Chief Architect of Barcelona from 2019 to 2023, and researchers from ISGlobal.
