We are excited to announce the second edition of the online workshop series, “Multi-Omics Data Integration in Human Exposome Studies”, running from September to December 2026. Building on the foundational and introductory material covered in the first edition, this new series goes a step further.

Through practical, hands-on seminars, participants will explore state-of-the-art analytical frameworks and statistical workflows recently developed in exposomics. Each session will combine theoretical concepts with codes and implementation resources, enabling participants to apply the presented techniques in their own research endeavours.

About the workshop series

Integrating multiple omics layers with environmental data is essential for advancing precision environmental health and epidemiology, but it also involves major computational and methodological challenges.

This workshop series introduces state-of-the-art analytical frameworks and statistical workflows developed to address these challenges. Participants will begin with multi-block dimensionality reduction, used to transform high-dimensional and collinear exposomics data into biologically meaningful signatures.

The sessions will then explore methods for relating exposures to biological mechanisms through mediation and causal frameworks, analysing complex environmental mixtures, connecting molecular and exposure layers through network-based approaches, and integrating emerging omic layers such as the microbiome.

Participants will also discover strategies for working with missing or incomplete data, imbalanced outcomes and longitudinal analyses. Finally, the series will examine the role of Large Language Models (LLMs), generative AI and eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) in creating trustworthy, interpretable and practical multi-omics workflows.

Together, these approaches provide researchers with a practical and actionable toolkit for addressing modern epidemiological and precision environmental health challenges.

Code and materials

Designed as a highly practical, hands-on experience, the seminars will give participants access to the codes and resources needed to implement the presented techniques. All session codes and materials will be available directly and free of charge during and after the workshop through our Github and YouTube channel.

Audience

This workshop is aimed at Master/PhD students, researchers, clinicians, and other professionals working in exposomics, epidemiology, or toxicology who are interested in understanding how omics data, including the exposome, can be integrated into epidemiological research.
