The TVE program ‘El Escarabajo Verde’ focuses on ‘The air you breathe’

18.12.2012

The Spanish population breathe air that violates the legal limits set by the European Commission. TV2 program’El Escarabajo Verde’ reflects on 'The air you breathe' and evaluates the pollution in the city of Barcelona, which has the highest density of cars in Europe and how it can affect people.

One of the main causes is the combustion of diesel engines. One immediate solution would be to limit the access of cars to the center of the cities, as do 159 European cities, but the authorities refuse.

In the program, the CREAL joint scientific director, Dr. Jordi Sunyer, and the CREAL researcher, David Rojas, argue the dangers of pollution on health and the benefits of exercise, respectively.
