The Scientific Advisory Committee visits CREAL

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of CREAL will visit the Centre on April 25 and 26, 2013. The external SAC includes internationally known researchers from Europe and North America and is Chaired by Prof. Jonathan Samet.  The main aim of the SAC visit is to assess CREAL’s research program and provide advise for further development of research at CREAL.  During the visit, the SAC members will have the opportunity of discussing at length with faculty and other researchers of CREAL. 
 

The SAC’s third visit to CREAL takes place at a crucial moment for CREAL. First, the current economic crisis in Europe has had a particular strong impact in Spain; even though the Catalan Goverment (Generalitat) has continued providing strong support to research in Catalonia, research policies and funding have been, unavoidably, affected. Second, CREAL has implemented a strategic alliance with two other research centres, CRESIB and ISGlobal, to develop a world-class center for research, education and transfer in global health. Guidance from the SAC will be essential as CREAL continues to evolve as a world-class research centre. Many of the members of the SAC will visit us for the first time due to the recent renovation of the SAC that was approved in November 2012 by the Governing Council of CREAL.
