The SAC evaluates CREAL´s research

03.06.2010

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) has come to the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) to evaluate the research conducted over the past three years. These internationally renowned scientists, who are part of SAC, also advise the centre in order that it can keep on making high-quality epidemiological research.

To offer a quality assessment and approach, CREAL direction present today the research that has been done in different research programs (air pollution, water pollution, radiation, respiratory, children and cancer) as well as teaching or counseling activities that have been carried out, among others.
The purpose of this visit is to receive the assessments and opinions of scientists outside the centre to provide a more objective view and to keep on improving our research and, therefore, increase the scientific knowledge relevant for public health actions.

SAC President Jonathan Samet and other members are: Alvar Agustí, Roberto Bertolini, Peter Burney, Bert Brunekreef, Joan Grimalt, Klea Katsouyanni, Francine Kauffmann, Alvaro Muñoz, Jorn Olsen, Neil Pearce, Juha Pekkanen, Shelia Hoar Zahm, Paolo Vineis, Erika Von Mutius, Frank D. Gilliland and Sir Anthony Newman-Taylor. The last four researchers have been unable to attend this conference.

In the coming weeks Jonathan Samet will send a report with the lessons learned during these two days.
