The Norwegian Institute of Public Health visits CREAL interested in our project management

13.11.2012

Last week, October 29th and 30th, a delegation of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) visited the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) interested in a review of international project support infrastructures. The experience of the CREAL in the coordination of European projects and the creation of the Project Office (PO) were the sources of the NIPH interest to want to come to visit the CREAL and to learn and to adopt the best practices to organize and to carry out the project management.

Ane Lunde, Solfrid Johansen, Simensen Truls and Åsa L'Abée-Lund were the members of the NIPH who took part in this meeting and who moved up to Barcelona due to their interest. From CREAL, Joana Porcel, Ana Sillero and Diana van Gent participated in the meeting.

This working visit was a valuable exchange of knowledge, experience and skills build up by both institutions. This was the final in a series of visits which will be reviewed in an internal report to provide recommendations for structuring dedicated European project support at NIPH.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health is a national centre of excellence in the areas of epidemiology, mental health, control of infectious diseases, environmental medicine, forensic toxicology and drug abuse. Counting 1000 members of staff, NIPH is involved in several large scale international research projects funded through the Norwegian Research Council, the Gates Foundation, EU, National Institutes of Health (US) and several others.

International collaboration is a priority area for the NIPH, and the organisation intends to scale up international activities. The objective of the study exercise is to learn and adopt best practice for organizing and performing project management.
