The general aim of the project is improve the living conditions of children in vulnerable situaton in Nouakchott, Mauritania, through the strengthening of the National System of Child Protection.

In particular, it will support the establishement of three Community Protection Systems (CPS) in three communes within the intervention zone.

ISGlobal will carry out two activities:

  • A mapping of health actors and their capacity to respond to problems related to lack of protection. This implies doing a diagnosis of the current situation in terms of child health and an analysis of the coverage capacities of the structures that form part of the protection system; and identifying health problems linked to violence, exploitation, discrimination and negligence.
  • Training of civil society members and health care staff on the consequences of lack of protection in children. Four theoretical-practical workshops are planned to strengthen capacities of the CPS personnel on the impact of vulnerability and violence in child health, focusing on identification of alarm signals.
