Intermittent Preventive Treatment during Pregnancy (IPTp) is based on the use of drugs given in treatment doses at pre-defined intervals. Silvie Huijben (ISGlobal), post-doctoral fellow at ISGlobal, is going to talk about this approach in the context of antimalarial resistance and HIV co-infections. At ISGlobal, she focuses her research on the ecology and evolution of drug resistant 'Plasmodium falciparum' parasites, HIV-malaria co-infections and insecticide resistance. Free entrance.
