CREAL receives volunteers from MCC-Spain project on cancer

The Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) received last Tuesday 20 people, volunteers from MCC-Spain study, between 60 and 80 years old in different areas of Barcelona (Cornella, L'Hospitalet, Badalona and Barcelona city).     The objective was to show our centre and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB).

MCC-Spain investigates the influence of environmental factors and their interaction with genetic factors in common tumors or epidemiological characteristics peculiar to our country. Today they count with 6146 cases of cancers and 3904 population controls coming from almost all regions of Spain: Cataluña, Madrid, Navarra, País Vasco, Castilla y León, Asturias, Murcia, Andalucía, Cantabria and Comunidad Valenciana. With this initiative, the researchers try to involve more volunteers in research projects and science in the country.

CREAL is the coordinator centre of MCC-Spain in direct collaboration with the ISCII (Madrid). The study is organized in working groups that include water contaminants, occupation, endocrine disruptors, medication, tumour clinical symptoms and markers, infections, screening and genetics.
