What transformations do we need to ensure that gender equality, intersectionality and diversity cease to be merely formal commitments and become genuine criteria for scientific quality, responsibility and impact?

On 13 November, the Auditorium of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) will host the INCLUDE Final Conference, bringing together researchers, institutional representatives, health professionals and other key stakeholders to reflect on how to move towards more equitable, diverse and scientifically rigorous biomedical research.

Organised by the INCLUDE consortium, the conference will provide an opportunity to share the main lessons learned, tools and experiences developed throughout the project, as well as to open a space for dialogue on the challenges that still persist within scientific institutions and the transformations needed to address them.

The programme will offer a journey from analysing the structural inequalities that shape science and health to identifying and discussing concrete strategies to drive institutional change.

Topics will include the integration of gender and intersectional perspectives into biomedical research; diversity in research teams and knowledge production; geopolitical inequalities in science; the creation of safe and equitable working environments; the role of Gender Equality Plans; and the resistance, learning and opportunities that accompany processes of institutional transformation.

The conference will also present the main results and resources developed by INCLUDE, including the Manifesto for Equity and Diversity in Biomedical Research, the INCLUDE Toolkit, the Policy Brief and the Community of Practice.

As a pre-event, on 12 November, a session will take place at the Museu de la Ciència CosmoCaixa, featuring a public lecture by Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim, one of the world's leading HIV researchers. Admission will be free for INCLUDE participants, subject to prior registration.
