4th ISGlobal-UB Master of Global Health Now Underway

ISGlobal-coordinated global health programmes begin this week at the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Medicine

23.09.2015

The fourth edition of the ISGlobal–University of Barcelona (UB) Master of Global Health is now underway at the UB Faculty of Medicine. Classes started this week and will run until June 2016. "In keeping with the trend we've seen over the past few years, our new crop of students is more diverse than ever in terms of geographical origin and professional background," commented Núria Casamitjana, Training and Education Director at ISGlobal. "This wealth of diversity benefits everyone in the learning process, but it also challenges us to adapt continually."

This year, for the first time, most of the subjects that form part of the ISGlobal-UB Master of Global Health will also be offered as independent short courses for people who are interested in studying a specific aspect of global health but are unable to commit to an entire postgraduate programme. Another option is the Diploma of Global Health Fundamentals, which comprises the first two modules of the Master of Global Health and represents 30 ECTS or about 5 months of study.

These postgraduate courses employ a distinctive methodology based on case studies, problem solving and debate. In addition to providing students with the knowledge and tools they need to work in global health, the courses also enable participants to cultivate a network of contacts in the field, including faculty from renowned academic institutions and international health organisations.

This week also marks the start of the Master of Clinical Research at the UB. ISGlobal coordinates the International Health Track of this programme and collaborates on the Clinical Microbiology Track.
