Child Health Research, the Key to a Healthier European Society

 On 30-31^st May, the European projects RICHE and CHICOS are hosting an international meeting on child health research inDublin, to coincide with the Irish presidency of the European Union.

CHICOS is coordinated by Martine Vrijheid of CREAL, with remit to develop a child cohort research strategy for Europe for the next 15 years.

The FP7-funded project ran between January 2010 and February 2013, and will release the findings of the evaluation of European birth cohort activities shortly.

CHICOS, together with RICHE (coordinated by Anthony Staines of Dublin University College) are holding this meeting to celebrate European child health research, and to flag the importance of this work to the Commission, and other policy makers. Complimenting the CHICOS recommendations for future birth cohort research, RICHE has prepared a roadmap for child health research for Europe. Both projects will launch their reports at the meeting. Other European child health projects (EU-funded or otherwise) are invited to present, and there will be a special session for researchers from the island of Ireland. The call for abstract submissions will close on Sunday, 10^th March.

 Amongst the key speakers are Patricia Reilly from Maire,  Geoghegan-Quinns' office, Lennart Köhler from the Nordic school of Public Health, and Helmut Brand from Maastricht and Bad-Gastein.
