A comprehensive training program to tackle Antimicrobial Resistance

This course, offered through the LECTURIO platform, provides medical professionals with essential tools and knowledge to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through responsible antibiotic use, effective communication with patients, and proper healthcare waste management.

This course is aimed at:
Doctors in all areas of primary care and general medicine, especially those involved in prescribing antibiotics or managing infectious diseases. It is also valuable for health educators and professionals committed to improving clinical practices related to AMR.

Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, participants should be able to:

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand the fundamentals of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), appropriate antibiotic use, and the One Health approach.

  • Gain expertise in diagnosing and managing common infections (respiratory, urinary, skin, oral, and pediatric) in primary care.

  • Learn to interpret microbiological test results to support accurate diagnoses and treatments.

  • Improve communication skills with patients of all ages to promote adherence, reduce self-medication, and foster responsible antibiotic disposal.

  • Incorporate strategies for the reduction and management of healthcare waste to minimize environmental impact on AMR.

  • Recognise the critical role of physicians and pharmacists in community-level antimicrobial stewardship (PROA).

Course Coordinator: Dr José Miguel Cisneros Herreros, a leading expert in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship in Spain, Dr. Cisneros coordinates this comprehensive course focused on clinical impact and practical implementation.
